You have decided to speak to Joan in a more private place and ask her further about what’s going on. She is reluctant to discuss it at first, then she blurts it out.
“You know very well what’s wrong. Everything seems to be against me. At first it was just at home, but now you’re picking on me too. It’s enough to drive anyone to drink. The least you could do is leave me alone.”
What general response would you make to Joan following this rather blunt outburst?
Which of the steps listed below would you take?

Remind her that you are the manager and just doing your job, and that she should have more respect for this fact.
Suggest that she go back to work and cool off and that you will talk to her later.
Warn her that if there are any more comments from her like that, you will see that she is severely dealt with.
Tell her that you think it might help if she discussed it. You don’t wish to intrude but you are concerned over her absence.
Tell Joan she is dismissed for insubordination.
Transfer Joan at the first opportunity.
