You have decided to exclude Joan from the overtime work but tell her that if she improves her performance and attendance, you’ll include her in future.

Joan replies:  “Fine, if that’s what you want to do” and goes back to work.

The overtime issue is resolved, you have successfully excluded Joan from doing any extra hours, and she ‘appears’ to have agreed.

So, with regards the overtime, you feel satisfied that at least this managerial issue is dealt with for now, but is it?
